 Carey grew up in Wheaton Illinois listening to his father (Kent Hughes) faithfully exposit God's word every Sunday. At the age of fourteen Carey fully submitted his life to Christ and felt called to preach the word. After receiving a degree in Secondary Education from Columbia International University in 1992 Carey spent three years as the Junior High director at College Church of Wheaton. In 1995 he began studies at Moore Theological College in Sydney Australia. During his seminary years in Sydney he served as an intern at Saint Matthias Church and was greatly influenced and shaped by the preaching and tutelage of Philip Jensen and Archie Poulos. In 1999 Carey began pastoring at Christ The Redeemer Church in Spokane Washington where he now continues to minister with a passion for preaching and family ministry. Carey has been married for 10 years, has six kids and loves doing carpentry.
